No Show Footies
Materials:
1 Ball Cascade Fixation cotton stretch yarn
(Elann’s Espirit yarn can be substituted)
Size 3 circular needles (2) or Double points, (4 or 5)
Note: The pattern is written for circular needles, however
if you use doublepoints you should have no trouble
following along.
s1 = slip one stitch
inc = increase one stitch, this is done by knitting in the front and back of the stitch.
psso = pass slipped stitch over
k = knit
p = purl
k2 tog = knit 2 together
Cast on 3 stitches. Knit back and forth for 3 rows.
Begin Heel:
Row 1: s1, inc 1, k1 (4 sts)
Row 2 (and all even rows); s1, purl to end, turn.
Row 3: s1, k1, inc 1, k1 (5sts)
Row 5: s1, k1, inc 1, k2 (6sts)
Row 7: s1, k2, inc 1, k2 (7 sts)
Row 9: s1, k2, inc 1, k3 (8sts)
Row 11: s1, k3, inc 1, k3 (9sts)
Row 13: s1, k4, inc 1, k3 (10sts)
Row 15: s1, k4, inc 1, k4 (11sts)
Row 17: s1, k1, inc 1, knit to last 3 stitches, inc 1, k2 (13 sts)
Row 19, 21, 23, 25, 27: Repeat Row 17 915, 17, 19, 21, 23 stitches)
Row 29: s1, k10, inc 1, k11 (24sts)
Rows 31, 33: Knit across
Turn Heel:
Row 1: s1, p12, p2 tog, p1, turn
Row 2: s1, k3, s1, k1, psso, k1 turn
When heel is completed you should have 14 stitches on the needle. Break yarn.
With right side facing you and starting at row 3 of the increase rows, pick up 19 stitches along right side, then for circulars knit 7 heel stitches, drop needle and with new circular, knit remaining 7 sts, then pick up 19 stitches along the left side. (If using double points you will find it easier to pick up 19 sts with needle 1, knit across 14sts with needle two and pick up 19sts with needle 3) 52sts.
Now you’ll be working back and forth, starting with a purl row.
Odd rows: k3, purl across, k3
Even Rows: k3, k2tog, k to last 5 sts, s1, k1, psso, k3.
Repeat these two rows until you have 38 stitches left on the needles. The work even back and forth in established pattern (knit the first and last 3 stitches each row) for another 25 rows.
Increase Rows:
Knit rows: k3, inc 1, knit to last 4 sts, inc 1, k3.
Purl rows: k3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Repeat these two rows until you have 50 stitches on the needles. Join. You will now be working in rounds instead of rows.
Knit around for 12 rounds. If you have a small foot, size 5 or 6, make this 10 rounds, if your shoe size is larger than a size 9, add two rows for 14 rounds. (You want the sock to fit snugly so it stays on.)
Decrease in your favorite manner for the toes. I decrease in the traditional manner until I have 12 stitches remaining and then
Inspiration was taken from an old pattern for Peds. Found at this site:
http://www.knitting-crochet.com/found/toewarfou.html
The socks would not stay on so I did some major tweaking and came up with this finished product.
Enjoy!
